This is a time-lapse video shot using Instagram’s Hyperlapse app on an iPhone 5s. The camera is mounted rigidly to the boat but the software is able to stabilize the video utilizing the accelerometers in the phone. This is why the horizon is stable but it looks like the boat is moving in relation to the camera.

The Drift didn’t rotate the whole 360 degrees. I’m guessing this is because it wasn’t level and the boat was shaking a lot. I checked it at home later and it was working properly. The boat also moves up and down with each stroke so I may try something like this again with a gyroscopically stabilized camera.
